Budget 2027 allocates RM60 million to support MSME exports
Matrade is targeting RM12 billion in export sales through 200 activities planned for 2027.

More than 3,500 companies, including 60 bumiputera companies, are expected to benefit from RM60 million allocated to the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) under Budget 2027, the agency said.
The funding falls under the Export Resilience and Market Diversification Fund. Matrade said it would help Malaysian businesses develop their export capabilities and enter a wider range of markets as exporters face tariffs, geopolitical uncertainty and disruption to supply chains.
For 2027, the agency plans 200 activities covering export development and promotion, with an export sales target of RM12 billion. Its register included 10,300 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as of September 2026.
Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said increasing MSMEs’ participation in Malaysia’s export market was a strategic priority. Chief executive officer Datuk Indera Abu Bakar Yusof said the agency would work with partners and stakeholders to deliver results for exporters.
Matrade said its export strategies would continue to cover diversification into new markets, halal, services and digitalisation, including through the Madani Digital Trade Platform (MDTP). Support for MSMEs would also continue through the Matrade Academy and the National Trade Blueprint.
The agency also expects more MSMEs to join international trade promotion activities following the extension of international trade exhibition tax incentives until the Year of Assessment 2030.
