Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd has won a RM20.28 million power infrastructure contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd in Pahang, its second award from the utility since leaving Practice Note 17 (PN17) status in February.

According to its Oct 27 bourse filing, Kindenko Sdn Bhd will carry out the work at Bentong's PMU Avetani substation. The scope involves extending two transformers rated at 45MVA, 132/33kV. Completion is expected within 540 days of commencement.

In a separate statement, Bintai Kinden said the award lifted its outstanding order book to RM183.8 million. Tenders worth RM1.77 billion are under evaluation. Managing director and CEO Datuk Tay Chor Han said the group was pursuing further contracts while maintaining operational discipline as it rebuilds its business.

The earlier Tenaga award, secured by Kejuruteraan Bintai Kindenko in April, was a RM44.65 million electrical project at the Bukit Tengah 275/132kV substation in Penang. It covered asset replacement and refurbishment, including installation of a new 240MVA autotransformer.

Bintai Kinden left PN17 on Feb 27 after nearly three years in the financially distressed category. Its regularisation measures included a private placement, a reduction in share capital and diversification into construction.

At the Oct 27 close, Bintai Kinden shares stood at 7.5 sen, up half a sen or 7.14%, valuing the group at RM126.29 million.
