Sarawak’s state-owned AirBorneo began selling tickets on Oct 31 for a direct Kuching–Jakarta service, with operations due to begin on Nov 13. The airline said flights to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport would run on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.

For the inaugural service, flight MY 396 is scheduled to leave Kuching at 3.10 pm on Nov 13. The return journey, MY 397, will depart Jakarta at 4.55 pm local time.

Chief executive officer Megat Ardian Aminuddin said the connection would support travel by business leaders, investors and official delegations. He said it would also cater to patients travelling to Sarawak for specialist care, their families and leisure passengers in both directions.

AirBorneo also outlined regional frequency changes under its Northern Winter 2026/27 jet schedule. Its Kuching–Singapore route has operated four times a week since Oct 23, with services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur remain twice daily.

Under that schedule, MY 0385 leaves Kuching for Singapore at 7.35 pm, while MY 0386 departs Changi Airport at 10 pm. The afternoon MY 5004 service now leaves Kuala Lumpur at 3.40 pm. AirBorneo said it had contacted passengers whose Singapore bookings were affected and offered alternative booking arrangements.
