Proposals for 9,955 projects involving RM944 billion have reached the Economy Ministry for 2027, covering both new projects and extensions. The figures were disclosed in the ministry’s written parliamentary reply.

The ministry put the development expenditure ceiling required for consideration in the 2027 planning process at RM80.4 billion. Its reply, published on the Malaysian Parliament website on Oct 5, addressed a question from Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Anak Brodi (GPS-Sri Aman).

She had asked how development project announcements would be supported by clear funding allocations, schedules, targets and identification of the agencies responsible.

Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) 2026-2030, agencies and ministries may put forward development proposals through rolling plans, the ministry said. It also said discussions with ministries, state governments and relevant agencies help rank projects according to needs, capacity to implement them and specified timelines.

The ministry said the 13MP sets a target of zero development projects still unstarted in their second year following approval by 2030.
