Sunway Construction Group Bhd said it has secured a contract worth RM1.74 billion for a hyperscale data centre in Bandar Serendah, Selangor, with construction scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the group said Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, its wholly-owned subsidiary, signed an agreement with an international hyperscaler whose identity was not disclosed. Sunway Construction is the construction arm of Sunway Bhd.

The project includes the main data centre structures and supporting infrastructure, alongside mechanical electrical and plumbing works. Completion is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2028.

The company expects a positive earnings contribution from the project starting with its financial year that ends on Dec 31, 2026. However, it does not anticipate a material immediate effect on earnings, net assets or gearing in the current financial year.

At the Nov 5 midday break, Sunway Construction shares stood at RM7.70, gaining two sen or 0.26%. The group had a market capitalisation of RM10.3 billion, while its shares had gained 35.33% year-to-date.
