Nile Tech has no access to MyJPJ database

The Transport Ministry says the insurance renewal link does not automatically send user profiles to the company, whose appointment is non-exclusive.

Nile Tech Sdn Bhd cannot access the MyJPJ database and does not automatically receive users’ profile information through the app’s insurance renewal link, according to the Ministry of Transport (MOT).

In a written parliamentary reply, MOT said the link takes users out of MyJPJ and onto Nile Tech’s portal. Insurance renewals, including the transactions involved, are handled there rather than within the app.

Users who decide to continue on that portal provide information under its terms and conditions and privacy policy, the ministry said. The reply addressed a question from Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (Perikatan Nasional-Besut) about safeguards against third-party access to personal data.

MOT said Nile Tech’s role is to provide MyJPJ users with another channel to renew vehicle insurance. The arrangement is intended to make online transactions easier and lessen the need for counter visits.

The appointment followed a process set by MOT and the Road Transport Department, with specified conditions attached. The ministry said the arrangement is non-exclusive and involves no government expenditure.
