The quota for licensed taxis making cross-border journeys will rise from 300 to 500 per country on Nov 16, 2026, the transport ministries of Malaysia and Singapore said in a joint statement.

Two additional ride-hailing operators, CDG Zig Pte Ltd and Kumpool Sdn Bhd, will receive licences under the Cross-Border Taxi Scheme on the same date. They will operate alongside GrabCar Pte Ltd, which is already licensed under the scheme.

The ministries said the changes would give passengers and drivers more choices for journeys between the countries. Singapore Land Transport Authority chief executive Ng Lang said the expanded availability of licensed services would offer travellers greater flexibility.

The latest changes follow enhancements introduced on May 4, 2026. Those measures covered designated collection locations for ride-hailing and e-hailing bookings, greater flexibility over drop-off locations and a higher taxi quota. They also included additional requirements to help authorities enforce restrictions on illegal domestic point-to-point journeys.
