Port of Tanjung Pelepas takes up 16,000 green electricity blocks
The port’s subscription covers 16 GWh monthly and runs from May 2026 to December 2027, according to a joint statement with TNB.

A renewable electricity partnership between Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) covers the port’s subscription to 16,000 blocks under the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme. The companies said the arrangement provides 16 GWh of certified renewable electricity each month.
The subscription period spans May 2026 to December 2027. In their joint statement, the companies said PTP now ranks as the programme’s largest subscriber among Malaysian ports. They said the arrangement allows the MMC Group member to switch to renewable energy for 100 per cent of its electricity supply.
Customers on GET pay a tiered premium for green electricity on top of the normal base tariff. They receive Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificates (mREC) each year, with PTP’s certificates matching its subscribed green energy volume.
The companies linked the subscription to PTP’s targets to reduce carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. PTP chief executive officer Mark Hardiman said using GET would speed up the port’s renewable energy transition and help it work towards its 2030 emissions target.
