The government will publish details identifying contractors for its projects and the value of their contracts following enforcement of the Government Procurement Act 2027, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan told Parliament.

Speaking during the Budget 2027 winding-up debate, Amir Hamzah linked the disclosure measure to efforts to improve accountability and transparency. He cited lessons from controversies involving Felda, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and Tabung Haji.

The procurement legislation has 12 parts and 93 clauses, providing a framework covering both state and federal procurement. Its scope extends to ministries and statutory bodies, alongside local authorities and government-linked companies using public funds.

Amir Hamzah also said the government was preparing a Government-Owned Entities Bill aimed at creating clearer, more consistent financial governance rules for government-owned companies and statutory bodies.

He said variations in the regulations and reporting requirements applying to these entities made comprehensive oversight and compliance harder. The proposed law would bring greater consistency to the framework for procurement, investment activities and asset disposal.
